Adventures of the Squealy-Moo Pirates

Review

The Adventures of the Squealy-Moo Pirates tells the story of three camp leaders—together with their young campers—going on an episodic pirate adventure to earn their treasure-hunting badges.  Creative use of props really makes this performance. The play's three principal actors create a range of seafaring scenes by manipulating a mixture of beach towels, brightly-coloured pool noodles, and a mountain of handkerchieves—very creative.  Necessarily—for the play's principal and participatory audience tends mostly to be under the age of five and thus easily distracted—the acting is loud, vivacious, and delightfully over the top.  With plenty of opportunity for kids in the audience to engage with the story and its characters, The Adventures of the Squealy-Moo Pirates is a fine choice for wee Fringe-goers and childrens' theatre enthusiasts of all ages. -Will Belton
