Al Lafrance: I Think I’m Dead

Review

I had assumed Al Lafrance: I Think I'm Dead would be about an angry man and his gripes with the world. Rather, it's a spectacular, thoughtful, and verbally-dense opus on the harms the performer has done to his mind, and the harm that was already there. Lafrance speaks with breakneck speed and scalpel-like precision. He speaks with a casual nihilism and mania about alternate dimensions and death (his own, mostly). At times, he slows things down, gets serious, and touches the audience with his tales of fighting for mental health, eventually. Then he lightens the mood with Billy Joel. This is a must see, but be ready for the heavy subject matter. – Doug Johnson
