I attended the fringe for the first time last night. I went to “almost heroes”. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It had a great balance of music and humour. It was easy to follow and engaging. It was very well done. The sets looked fantastic and those on the stage were very believable in their parts.

Clever, heartwarming, and super entertaining! I loved this show so much, it has a lot of heart, plenty of wit, and the music is amazing! So cool that this is a locally written and produced show! Trust me, this one is a must see!

What a great show! I watched it today, and I enjoyed the amazing harmonies, beautiful voices and acting, and fun songs it had. It was a cheesy type musical, yet don’t let this scare you away from the amazing talent the entire cast, including ensemble, had.

This was by far the best show we have seen at the Fringe! Amazing!! With more character developement and polishing I could see this being put on at the Mayfiel dinner theatre, or at the Citadel!!! The main actor who plays Captain Ordinary….A. MAZE. ING voice!!! Truly the best voice on that stage. But here’s why: he projected with soul! Often actors sacrifice one for the other. Not this guy! Man!! Awesome! No doubt all the singers (with the acception of one) were crazy talented. However the only actors (sorry don’t know names, just the characters) that had the whole package were Owl girl, Captain Oridnary, and human part of The Crow. The Flame girl was awesome, however she could have used a bit more soul, loved the rapp-ish song. It was hard to hear the damsel in distress for pretty much everything she sang. In this venue, lavs would be the way to go. If not, then SPEAK UP, we want to hear you!!! 🙂 For the crow, wowie!! So creative! I was confused why there was 2 actors… then at the end, it was Sort of revealed. I found it distracting, trying to figure out what was going on there. They make mention of owl girls origin, but not his. If at the very least, make the two actors use VERY different voices, and an internal struggle. Something, anything. It was so great and it was perfect. The stage combat was good. Would have loved to have seen it a bit more polished, but still so great! Lighting queue and sound were fabulous, the use of flats and set design were so great! In the end this was the best show I have seen at the Fringe in the last 2 years. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

The design (especially the art in the backgrounds) and the original music were great! The marketing made me really look forward to seeing the show, the cast seemed like they were having a ton of fun, and the creators clearly put a lot of thought into the details of the town and its inhabitants. Unfortunately, because there were so many characters, most came off as underdeveloped and lacked clear motivation. With a big space and no mics, it was hard to hear a lot of the lyrics, and it was difficult to get invested in the plot. This show had a lot of creative ideas (loved Owl Girl and her journey) and potential, but ultimately fell short of what I had hoped for.

Highly recommend!!! It’s a clever, funny and adventurous story about a group of gals and guys from being ordinary heroes! This show was written with so much wit and spontaneity, and the music was on point. The set was really well done. I even got a legit comic book after the show, it was a nice touch to everything. I definitely enjoyed watching this.
