An All New God Is A Scottish Drag Queen

Review

If you haven’t witnessed Mike Delamont in his drag persona—featuring a plaid power suit, black bob, and bare feet—marching out on stage and announcing that he is God (what were you expecting?), you’re missing out on a quintessential Edmonton Fringe experience. For anyone who has seen this comedic performance before, “all new” material may be a bit of a stretch—but I wouldn’t count it against him. It’s comforting to return to his classic jokes as he opens the show with a singalong to The Proclaimers and pokes fun at the Bible’s absurd stories, and he still updates his show with critiques on current pop culture and politics. Delamont is quick-witted, but sometimes seems to lack direction as he jumps from joke to joke. Though you may not always trust he knows where he’s going, you can believe he’s going to take you on a laugh-a-minute ride. —Matthew Stepanic
