Aspergers: A Tale of a Social Misfit

Review

Stand up comedy is a craft that plays heavily on the delivery of a joke and letting a punch line have room to breathe. Adam Schwartz hits all of these marks in his comedy routine Aspergers: A Tale of a Social Misfit. The pacing of the show follows Schwartz’s experiences in his day-to-day life and much of the subject matter revolves around his experiences with having Aspergers. What follows is earnest storytelling where Schwartz sheds light on certain social constructs in society towards people with disabilities. Every story told comes from a place of honesty while still maintaining Schwartz’s own unique brand of humour. Jokes linger on awkwardly silent notes at times and then Schwartz reels the audience back in with clever and poignant hilarity. Reviewed by Jake Pesaruk.
