Blindside

Review

Stephanie Morin-Robert is a wonderful storyteller, a huge cat person, a splendid contemporary dancer, and quite the comedian. She also happens to have one eye—having had it removed at the age of two and a half due to retinoblastoma, a cancer of the cells of the retina. All of these are things she readily demonstrates for an eager audience every night in Blindside. This autobiographical show is bookended in family dramatics and follows the tale of a Stephanie’s formative moments as a fearless, glass eye-adorned young dynamo. The performance is heartfelt, hilarious, quirky and quaint—maybe not a show for the squeamish or emotionally closed off. Sit front and centre and prepare to laugh and suddenly cry. -Joel Taras

Stephanie’s show was entertaining and heartfelt. She’s so relatable and aware of her audience that you can tell immediately she’s a seasoned pro. As an audience member you trust her, and while soft spoken I held onto every word. What a beautiful show that I’ll be thinking about for a while.
