Blown Away

Review

With a combination of circus tricks, audience participation, and baroque contemporary numbers, Blown Away is the perfect family-friendly show. Although, while many of the tricks Michael Armstrong completes are entertaining and impressive, they can become old quite quickly for an older audience. Donning a cocaine-white conductor's outfit, Armstrong attempts to make every moment a spectacle, but this almost leads to his downfall. Not every trick is successful, but Armstrong tries to play it off as deliberate. It adds to the incompetent bumble king conductor Armstrong is portraying. So, deciding whether or not the failing tricks are part of the show or due to a lack of rehearsing is up to the audience. Still, Blown Away keeps it light and fun for the kids, but you may need a bit of liquid courage to keep up in spirits. Reviewed by Stephan Boissonneault.
