Bushes In the Basement

Review

Someone read V.C. Andrews’ horrifying 1979 novel, Flowers in the Attic, and thought that an incestuous tale of abuse and neglect would make an incredible drag comedy. They were completely right. What would otherwise be a trip into utter depravity is still a trip into utter depravity, but with a wink and a smile from cult-director John Waters. It’s the same kind of smile the Grinch had when he decided to rob Whoville in the 1960s cartoon—all mischief. I cannot recommend this sick comedy enough, providing would-be audience goers enter under the assumption that nothing is sacred, and nothing is so terrible as to not warrant laughter. I’m going again later in the week. My friends need to see this. -Lucas Provencher

SO FUNNY. SO WEIRD. It’s completely original and hilarious. Zachary Parsons-Lozinski and Spenser Pasman are stand outs with their impeccable comedic timing. My favourite thing I’ve seen at the Fringe so far!

So funny! Everyone in the cast really turned it out. Ridiculous and filthy and incredibly entertaining. Catch this while you can.
