Days of the Klondike

Review

Days of the Klondike is adorable family friendly fun. A colourful production with a large cast of all ages, Days of the Klondike explores the history of the gold rush through song and dance. Educational and lively, there is no shortage of musical numbers and vibrant costuming here. The leads playing “Kitty” Rockwell and Alexander P. are very talented and highly entertaining to watch. However, an extra tech rehearsal, or a pack of AA batteries, would have gone a long way. There were some impressive vocals and stage personalities that got lost as microphones cut in and out throughout the show. Although it was rather distracting, this problem will likely not be consistent through future shows and I would highly recommend it for a family outing! Reviewed by Lindsay Istace.

Days of the Klondike is another delightful performance by Musicalmania. The large cast performs very well and you’ll even end up learning some actual history as the characters are all based on historical Klondike personalities. If you want to see a fun musical well delivered I recommend Days of the Klondike.

Loved watching Days of the Klondike. The music is the toe tapping, motivating, kind of want to singalong variety – all original songs which I thought were excellent. The singing was beautiful. I definitely learned some of our history from that era – like where Klondike Kate originated from. I also learned a new appreciation on what the people who participated in the gold rush went through – the bitter cold, the frenzy over finding gold, the despair over not finding any, the split families, etc. I felt like I really got to know the characters in the play. I definitely recommend Days of the Klondike to all Fringe attendees.

Days of the Klondike was very enjoyable to watch. It is historical and aimed to capture the gold rush fever and what daily life was like back then. There was quite a bit of comedy to keep things light-hearted and fun. The music and acting were excellent. I would recommend watching this show!

Days of the Klondike is an educational, as well as entertaining, production. Learned about the origins of Klondike Kate, who was the colourful representative of Edmonton’s Klondike Days. The original music is fantastic, as are the vocals. Costumes are great. Awesome choice for all ages!

Days of the Klondike is a fun, informative and entertaining
musical that captures your attention for the entire production.
I whole heartedly enjoyed watching the colorful characters and
toe tapping to the music. And was mesmerized by the singing
and dancing of the talented cast.
I have been a fringer, from almost its inception, and this
production,is by far is one of my favorite.

I was impressed but the music, the actors, their musical ability and the presentation of everyone on stage. It was well rehearsed, the costuming was good and the minimal props were used effectively.
The sound tech needs to turn on the microphones sooner, as the first 4 – 8 bars were often missed on the solos.
Overall it proved to be a pleasant evening of entertainment and I recommend the show to everyone.

I was impressed by the music, the actors, their musical ability and the presentation of everyone on stage. It was well rehearsed, the costuming was good and the minimal props were used effectively. Some sound tech issues resulted in late microphone entries and the first 4 – 8 bars were missed on some solos, but the singers adjusted well.

Overall it proved to be a pleasant evening of entertainment and I recommend Days of the Klondike to everyone.
