Die-Nasty: The Live Improvised Soap Opera

Review

The Die-nasty dynasty is very much secure with this year’s powerful improvisers, and their well oiled team rapport. This show solidified its place as part of the fringe, standing side by side with other beloved fringe staples like green onion cakes or the beer gardens. This year’s ultra-meta show takes place at the fringe itself, featuring a cavalcade of characters from stage managers to security, and with scenes set in the beer gardens or in front of the arts barns. This show within a show serves as a high-feedback commentary of the Fringe, taking digs at reviewers (ahem) or even about the smog which plagues our city. The cast fly about the stage with high energy and make absurd choices, daring each other to go ever further in whatever random direction the show spins. The plot is ethereal and ever-changing, the performances are top notch and the laughs are near constant with this knockout show. The show will start late so grab a beer and get comfy before showtime. -Joel Taras
