Everything’s Coming Up Chickens! A Revue

Review

Some of Broadway’s most beloved songs are given over to irreverent fun in Plain Jane Theatre’s selection of music from revues that tease the artificiality, nepotism, and egotism of the industry. Each song successfully pulls aside the curtain and will have you laughing about the ridiculous aspects of musical theatre. “Stools,” for example, is about how no revue is complete without a fine pair of stools. With few props and costumes, the actors carry the show with their emphatic star power and strong singing voices. Particular standouts were the incredible vocal range of Kendra Connor—and the scene-stealing dog she performed with—and the comedic talent of Garrett Ross. As fabulous as each actor was, though, special credit must be given to the skilled pianist Janice Flower, who’s on stage performing for every number and keeps the atmosphere alive with each shift in the melody. – Matthew Stepanic

The four performers are a tight ensemble and play off each other beautifully. They made every lyric inn the music count. I particularly enjoyed the musical choices. Many songs I had not heard.
