Felix Checks Out

Review

In an interdimensional hotel, a man named Felix has met an untimely death. Luckily for him, he is greeted by four lovely ladies who lead him through whirlwind of eclectic dance routines. Each dance features a specific object and choreographed dance to each individual song. The music featured is all across the board, with throwback soul remixes and experimental tunes by folktronica band, The Books. One of my favourite dances has to be "Felix goes to work," an event that was Felix dancing through the daily toils of an office job. The dancing seems interpretive, mixing a classical ballroom dance with a modern-day waltz. The chemistry between each dancer is palpable, and the whole dance feels organic even though every step is scripted. You have to thank Leah Paterson (one of the dancers, the playwright, and choreographer) for that. Reviewed by Stephan Boissonneault.
