Flask’d N Strapped

Review

Flask'd N’ Strapped offers is the intimate magnitude of a poetry show with a lot more drinks and feelings spilled towards the audience. Set in the cozy venue of the Kazbar Lounge, Flask N’ Strapped covers topics of love, betrayal and only the “small” inconveniences that come with substance abuse issues. The star Nanise is a powerhouse as she flawlessly flows from one character to the next each with their own style of storytelling poetry. Every persona is vividly different from their counterparts with their own sets of accompanying music and mannerisms. Throughout the show, Nanise moves around the audience encouraging them to have just as much fun as she is, as she often supports noise, cheers and consumption of a few drinks. Although this show may not be the traditional type of production one might expect at the Edmonton Fringe, the sheer amount of vibrant energy and joy that surrounds it merits a viewing or two. So much fun! What a talented, brave, funny actress and poet. I enjoyed this show immensely, and it seemed like the rest of the audience did too. Great venue too.
