For Whom The Southern Belle Tolls And Bed Bug Bossa Nova

Review

iiii Theatricals pairs two daffy comedies to create a double feature of short plays. "Bed Bug Bossa Nova" follows two male bed bugs as they navigate the tricky terrain of sexual desire while under the looming spectre of impending extermination. "For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls" is an all-out parody of Tennessee Williams’ classic play "The Glass Menagerie." The first is the stronger piece of the two, with its whip-fast dialogue and the hilarious chemistry between Eric Smith and Clayton Plamondon. The cast doesn’t quite find their comedic groove in the latter piece, however, which produces some uneven performances. Depending on your knowledge of "The Glass Menagerie," you may be left scratching your head at the many detailed Tennessee Williams references. —Connor Meeker
