From The Balcony

Review

Choosing a location for a BYOV during the Fringe usually results in an odd, and off-putting experience for the audience. Usually, you walk in and say 'why is this a venue,' in your head  In this case, however, Heather Swain's choice is not odd, but perfect for her performance. From above, Swain touches on a few interesting balcony facts (balcony deaths, famous high power icons who have used the balcony i.e. The Pope, dictators, and activists, and a few verbatim balcony quotes from famous speeches.) You will be standing outside this whole performance—or sitting if you can't take the 35 minutes—but Swain leads a few neck exercise intermissions so your neck doesn't fall apart. This performance is a great example of what you can do with theatre, going against traditional bounds. Also stay till the end and have some pretty good, complimentary prosecco. – Stephan Boissonneault

A short, fun show reflecting on the balcony itself, in a unique venue. We appreciated the neck exercises, and we applaud the bravery of doing a show at your own house!
