The Debutantes return to the fringe with a consistent sketch show that boasts surprising unity across its several short gags. In all but one sketch, adroit punchlines emerge as genuinely funny payoffs. Even in the segments that don’t leave you chuckling at their conclusions, numerous jokes build-up and help the performers find their footing. The six charismatic performers use accents and simple props to effectively jump between literary and real-world scenes to convey the believable idiocy of being overconfident. Hubris’ cohesive writing flows with creative comedy that reveals a knack for spotting the ridiculous underpinnings of familiar tropes. It twists mundane situations into believable farces, and the strong energy between the cast members keeps the whole thing clipping along at peppy pace. In a category thats famously competitive, Hubris deserves to be in the conversation as a top tier sketch comedy at this year's fringe. -Kevin Pennyfeather

My comment along with the previous zero star review was deleted so I’ll post it again.

This show was a disappointment. It just wasn’t funny. I’ve been following the group for awhile and their weekly shows have gotten more and more cringe. This follows down that path.

I’m floored that Vue has deleted previous criticism. What is the explanation for this? Why allow comments at all? Are all the low rated shows secretly 5 stars?

As far as I’m concerned, this site has lost all credibility.

This sucked and no amount of 1984, memory-holing can change that fact.
