Jon Bennett: How I Learned to Hug

Review

In Australian comedian Jon Bennett’s show, he dives into what it was like for him growing up in love.  Beginning with a ridiculous story about an encounter with a security guard at Montreal Airport, Bennett quickly links that with the overall theme of his set and takes the audience on a tour of every major relationship he has had since he was 13 years old. His antics and stories alone were hilarious right from the beginning, but then the show takes a bit of a strange turn. Fast-talking, swearing and physical comedy is all very well and good, especially in that Aussie sense, but then Bennett begins to slow down. As Bennett dives deeper into the dissection of his relationships, he began to appear sad and slow down, which I felt did not represent his comedic abilities at its best. However, it's a great show for those looking for a laugh about love. -Pierre Royal
