Lil Women: A Rap Musical

Review

As the name suggests, Lil Women: A Rap Musical is a retelling of the classic tale Little Women, all done through rap music. The story follows four young sisters as they make their way through adolescence, love, and marriage—all put to a soundtrack inspired by artists like Eminem and Childish Gambino. For a cast of eight white people from Orlando, Florida they have a surprisingly strong flow when they rap. Any fan of classic literature or clever wordplay is sure to love it. The one problem was that at some points the vocals were plagued by bad mixing, which hindered the audiences understanding of some of the jokes. Overall, however, the play is a fantastic romp through 1800’s Massachusetts, set to a solid mixture of east and west coast. -Alexander Sorochan
