Mind Map

Review

Mind Map is a series of charming, mostly self-deprecating observations that never exactly gets boring, but doesn't approach excelling. It's Wes Lord on stage with a microphone—simple, so not much production to screw up. Wes jumps between a collection of lighthearted tales, mostly about growing up and moving out in BC, with a steady stream of modest laughs throughout. The performance came off as a bit nervous at first, but while that made it uneven overall, there were some great quips pushing through. A more confident final segment was promising, but it did leave me feeling it closed too soon after too much lead-up. —Ryan Bromsgrove

Mind Map is a wonderful and brave work in progress, Wes Lord works through funny and self deprecating material about growing up on Vancouver Island while warning the audience that he might wander off on a tangent that goes nowhere. I found it incredibly charming and revelatory to see this mix of standup and a one man show with material that is in flux.

    Great fun!
