Naked Girls Reading presents…

Review

Four women wearing robes take the stage, each one of them carrying an armful of books. They slide off their single layer of clothing and take their seats. Naked Girls Reading is exactly what it sounds like, but for those looking for pure titillation, you’re in the wrong place. The show is classy, coming off more burlesque than strip club, which makes sense considering many of the revolving cast of 12 women have a history in burlesque. The show features a diverse group of body-positive women from around the world, including Montreal and Australia, and it’s great to see that the performers are having just as much fun on stage as the audience is watching. More than once throughout the show the performers broke out laughing at each other’s readings. Each performance has a theme, ranging from banned books to children’s stories, and each one is worth watching. The only complaint is that there were a few slipups in the readings, but it’s nothing that a little extra time going over the passages and slowing down while reading couldn’t fix. Overall, it’s a fantastic show. Review by Alexander Sorochan.
