One Man Stranger Things

Review

Continuing his tradition of one-man retellings, Charles Ross—who brought us One Man Lord of the Rings—returns to the Fringe with an enthusiastic, if imperfect, One Man Stranger Things. Ross’ effort to cover the show’s entire, two-season run did not go unnoticed, and attempts to provide a good caricature of each character were certainly made. Nonetheless, the performance fell short of its goals. The haste of the delivery meant that One Man Stranger Things, advertised at 75 minutes, lasted just short of an hour. It also meant that, at times, Ross’ speech was difficult to understand and that the quality of his spoken sound effects were poor. Even so, the audience seemed to find Ross amusing. The performance, though badly paced, prompted consistent if somewhat quiet laughter from the crowd. Despite its flaws, most people seem to have sort-of liked it. -Will Belton
