Prophecy

Review

Prophecy is an example of a story told effectively by a cast of one with a budget of practically none. It makes good use of simple props and lighting that you could find at a hardware store. The performance of actress Carmen Nieuwenhius, as directed by Corben Kushneryk, is compelling. Written by Jessy Arden, the story is a tragic retelling of the fall of Troy presented to us by a seer who often confuses what's to come with what has been. He warns of the dangers of forgetting the past and ignoring the warning signs of an unfortunate future. Definitely worth the effort to check out. Reviewed by Cody Boyd.

This show was amazing. Great writing, perfect light, costume and set design. And a really good and mesmerizing acting.

Loved that the writer got a known story that all of us knows it and re-write it from another perspective from the eyes of the women who we may never think about. And the important message of the whole thing that was emphasized at the end of the show was really thoughtful.

Loved it! best of Fringe this year so far!

Simply brilliant! An ancient story, a timeless message and a relevant, prophetic voice for today! Carmen Nieuwenhius uses simple props to take her audience all the way to Troy and transforms back and forth between 4 characters seamlessly. And I was moved from laughter, to anger, to tears, to the uneasy feeling of complicity.
