Propylene Glycol, Maltodextrin, Retinol Palmitate, and Other Words I Don’t Understand Like Love

Review

A dance piece that seems to take as its theme relationships in all their sweet and exciting to boring and safe configurations, Propylene Glycol … features strong dance and esthetics—it’s hard not to be struck by a show that features hundreds of brilliantly-white pillows as its main set piece—but the show fails to find traction. Much of the work is eye-catching, but the lack of focus detracts from the overall impression. The show’s elements often feel as if they’re competing with each other, and sometimes, as in the case of the manic, seemingly self-appointed narrator who insists on speaking over the opera singer, they are in direct competition. —Bryan Birtles

There are A LOT of pillows in this show! As well as a random opera singer, lots of clothing removal and excellent dancing. I think I may have lost a pound just watching this extremely high energy production.
