Scientist Turned Comedian

Review

As the name states, Tim Lee is a man with a foot in two worlds. Combining scientific theory with comedic observation, Lee’s stand-up routine goes over the well-tread territory of marriage mishaps, dealing with kids and the current state of political life in his native United States. What he adds to the mix is visual aids in the form of graphs, giving the whole thing a very TED Talk vibe. Lee also covers ecological concerns, like the endangerment of certain species and the warming of planetary temperatures. At first this seems like odd content for a comedy show, but ends up being the funniest stuff. Lee stays away almost entirely from edgier content, but his surfer-dad mannerisms and ease on stage still make for an entertaining hour. You might not be laughing the whole time, but if you’re in the mood for a comic with a little less bite than a Chappelle or a Burr, Lee is sure to satisfy. Reviewed by Tim Rauf.
