Staycation

Review

What if Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure fell in love with fourth-wall breaks, and then did a lot of drugs. That just might begin to explain the experience of Staycation. Though written and performed by Anthony Arnista and Jacob Trillo, Staycation is the spontaneous and crazy story of Walter and Bruce—two best friends who decided to wait out the apocalypse that never happens. The story then transforms into a spectacle of crowd interaction, ham-fisted Canadiana jokes and a journey to escape beyond their bunker door. Arnista and Trillo refuse to avoid a single opportunity to make fun of themselves, frequently breaking character to talk to the audience, though it can be distracting at times. Ultimately, this is a great distraction from everyday reality. Reviewed by Chris Berthelot.

This zany comedy brought us to tears as the actors clearly enjoyed their craft in a loosely translated play. The props were first star. Great dedication. Sweat stains……”spot on!”.
