It takes a special kind of female burlesque show to make a gay man hoot and holler, and the women of Toronto’s Big City Kitties succeeded in turning me into an enthusiastic audience member. Balancing sex appeal and humour, Lindsay Mullan, Veronika Slowikowska, and Connie Wang were in total control of the room and knew how to rile everyone up, make them burst out laughing, and have them thoughtfully reflect on sex and politics. Each performer turned a quotidian activity, such as cleaning the house, into a tantalizing and humourous dance. The show comes with many surprises, including a tender rap from Slowikowska about hookup culture and heartbreak and an important conversation led by Mullan about women’s sexuality and agency. With this woke burlesque, these three incredibly talented and self-called “fallen women” will satisfy all you desire from a Fringe show. – Matthew Stepanic

Not only will you get some sexy scenes but you will laugh throughout and even have some very heartfelt moments. If you are anything like me you might find yourself a bit uncomfortable during one part of the show but I enjoyed it all the more because it challanged how we think. I have never stared into someones eyes so intensely while shaking hands. These three ladies are spectacular and this show is definately worth watching.

Amazing, can’t recommend enough. Funny, Sexy and yet so very very real.

What they all said – you should NOT MISS this show. From laughter, to sexiness, to tears. I completely related to Mullen’s monologue about women and their relationship to their bodies as opposed to societies culturally induced thoughts and conformities. If I hadn’t 5 thumbs, they’d all be up 👍🏼

This was my first burlesque show and what a way to introduce me! I was lucky (if that’s the right word) enough to get the full package. It was a very blessing experience. The ladies did a wonderful job and I hope they come to the Edmonton Fringe again!
