The Ballad of Frank Allen

Review

After a wacky science machine is put into ignition, two men's lives are changed from the droll to the hairy. The first is Al Lafrance, a drunken buffoon who is a bit of a fool around the ladies, and unbeknownst to him, has a tiny man living inside his lumberjack beard. The tiny man is Frank Allen, a married janitor who has a penchant for getting Al out of sticky situations and drumming up original indie-rock anthems. The show is a bizarre sci-fi comedy that features desire paths, physical comedy, drunken push-ups, and random musical numbers. While the show is entertaining throughout, the most enjoyable points are when both actors seem to break character and hint at the audience that they are also lost in the lunacy of the situation. If you're looking to laugh or want to marvel at a magnificent beard, this show is highly recommended. Reviewed by Stephan Boissonneault.
