The Canada Show: The Complete History of Canada in One Hour!

Review

The juggling act of making a performance educational and entertaining is pulled off magnificently in The Canada Show: The Complete History of Canada in One Hour! Monster Theatre productions has supplied a show that tastefully and hilariously provides the history of Canada at a breakneck speed within the span of 60 minutes. It begins with the lives of the indigenous people of the country before European conquest and then works its way forward from there. The show isn’t afraid to address some of the more controversial issues of the nation and does so in a way that isn’t too intense and reminds audience that not all of Canada’s history is fur trades and conquest. Carly Pokoradi, Alex Gullason and Frankie Cottrell play off of each other in an energetic fashion that maintains the hilarity of the show and showcase their wide range of theatrical skills. The interchangeable style of the show keeps it engaging as the performers cycle, hrough props instruments and costumes. It’s whimsical, informative and fun leaving the audience informed and tired from laughing. Reviewed by Jake Pesaruk.
