The Progressive Polygamists

Review

The Progressive Polygamists is a satirical comedy created/performed by Mercy-Eve (Emmelia Gordon) and Eden-Grace (Pippa Mackie) about two Sister Wives defending the polygamist name. These two "Sister Wives" from a BC polygamist community come out of hiding to tell the Fringe theatre goers about sex, love, and the child bride secrets of polygamy using song, jump rope and cookies. The humorous take on the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints had the audience’s in stitches, from the very first moment to its climactic end with enthusiastic participation and the two’s commanding onstage performance. The Progressive Polygamists uses controversy well, shocking the audience by selling them the merits of underage marriage, sex, and the repressive nature of religious compound lifestyles as they advocate what they call “keeping sweet.” The play is progressive, thought provoking, and really quite funny to boot. Its subject matter might offend the deeply religious, but most will find it a highly entertaining experience. -Levi Gogerla

You didn’t say one negative thing about the play it than some might find it offensive… Does that really warrant 3.5 stars? This play was robbed, go see it!
