The Shape of a Girl

Review

This is an emotional story that many can relate to. The storyline is very heavy, performed with flawless execution. Captivating the audience's attention from beginning to end. The play balances emotions by showcasing good alongside the heavy weight of the bad experiences. The Shape of a Girl dives deep into the darkness of the bullying. It can happen. It does happen. The story illustrates the truth that the villain is not always the one acting against another, sometimes it is the one that chooses to act against none and remain silent. The performance has many layers and we see these young ladies pour their hearts into their characters. Prepare for a show that carries emotional weight. It may not be the most ‘entertaining,' but it certainly compensates with its power. The message is important—bravo to a bold and needed statement. Reviewed by Lisa Lunney.
