The Wind and the Rain

Review

How would you feel at the end of your world? The Wind and the Rain poses this macabre question. In the last hour of theatre on Earth, two of Shakespeare’s famous fools meet to face their final curtain. You don’t need to know Shakespeare to feel for Feste (Josh Travnik) and King Lear’s Fool (Chiara Tate-Penna). They each take turns feeling listless and positive about their impending doom, passing despair, and humour between them like jugglers passing pins. Travnik’s Feste is magic in action, which makes it hurt to watch when he starts to doubt himself. Your heart will break, even as you laugh. There is so much talent on display here that the hour flies by. There are hundreds of great shows at this year’s Fringe, but, seriously, see this one. No foolin’. -Erin Wallace

Beautifully written, excellent captivating performances by both performers. Very moving and a real treat if you love theatre. You don’t need to know Shakespeare to enjoy it, but there are lots of lovely references to pick up on if you do! Highly recommended!
