Urinetown, The Musical

Review

Welcome to a town like any other ... that you would find in a musical. As presented by Grindstone Theatre, Urinetown: The Musical is a wonderful satire of many musicals that came before it. It features familiar tropes of doomed lovers, an oppressive regime, and an oppressed people that just wants their God-given right to pee whenever they want, regardless of their social standing. Incredibly witty and almost blatantly self-deprecating, Urinetown: The Musical is the kind of show that can become a mess if not done right. Luckily, the cast and crew manage to hit the bowl. Good cast but unfortunately poor acoustics/audio and was so hot in the church we had to leave at the intermission. This would be better presented in an actual theatre venue such as the Varscona
